Christopher John Moran was born on 25 May 1963 in Maidstone, Kent. He was the son of Michael J. Moran and Betty E. Moran née Bailey. In May 1989 he married Louise Greene in Maidstone and they went on to live in Haselmere, Surrey.

He was employed by Accenture and was due to give a presentation at the Risk Waters Group conference in The Windows on the World restaurant on the 106th Floor, North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA, when he died, aged 38 years, on 11 September 2001.
