Ihab Slimane was born on 19 June 1981 in Lyons, France, and came to the UK in June 2005 to improve his English. He set up home near Finsbury Park and was working as a waiter at Gabrielle's, a French restaurant in Piccadilly Circus. His obituary can be found on the BBC News website.

He died, aged 24 years, on 7 July 2005 when travelling in the underground tunnel of the Piccadilly Line on the London Underground Railway between King's Cross and Russell Square underground stations that was targeted by a suicide bomber. The narrative verdict of his death can be found on the Coroner's Inquest Report.

His body was taken to Tunis, Tunisia, for his funeral service.
