Henry Peter, Lord Brougham

Categories: Politics & Administration, Race Issues

Countries: France

Born in Edinburgh. Died in Cannes, France, where, despite the plaque in Grafton Street, he apparently spent much of his last 30 years, indeed he seems to have effectively created Cannes. As a young man he studied science and at some point designed the first four-wheeled, one-horse carriage, known as a "brougham". A strong supporter of the campaign to abolish slavery.

If you have some French you'll find the Picture Source website well worth a visit (sadly, 2016 this link is now dead).
