War correspondent. Born Henry Woodd Nevinson. He reported on the Second Boer War and WW1 and also investigated the slave trade in Angola. In 1907 he was one of the founders of the Men's League for Women's Suffrage. He was father of the artist Christopher Nevinson.
The unusual spelling of Woodd is correct according to Wikipedia.
