Frederick Nettlefold

Industrialist, his company was Guest, Keen and Nettlefolds.

Born in Acton, London, son of John Sutton Nettlefold (1792–1866). JSN was in business with Frederick's cousin Joseph Chamberlain. Frederick and his brother, also Joseph (1827-1881), took over the screw manufacturing business which they developed into what became GKN.

He retired from Nettlefolds in 1893 and helped develop Samuel Courtauld's silk and crepe company.

He was a leader in the Unitarian Church; president of the Sunday School Association and later the British and Foreign Unitarian Association, and was one of the main supporters behind the construction of the 1886 Essex Hall. See his daughter, Edith.

He donated land for the original public library at Knights Hill West Norwood. Was a patron of the art pottery business, the Martin Brothers - see the Phillips catalogue. Died at Norwood Grove.
