Dr Simon Paul Wolff

Scientist and transport campaigner, successfully against the Archway Road Widening Scheme. He was a graduate student at Wolfson College, Oxford, 1980 - 1984. Toxicologist at the University of London.

Our colleague Andrew Behan has kindly researched this man: Dr Simon Paul Wolff was born on 3 March 1957 in Harborough Magna, Warwickshire, the son of Paul Heinz Walter Wolff and Ursula M. Wolff née Adams. He attended Rugby School and whilst on his summer holidays in August 1973 helped to rescue Harold Wilson, who at the time was the Leader of the Opposition in parliament, from the sea off the Scilly Isles.

In 1988 he married Lindis M. Hallan in Gravesend, Kent and they had two children, Anja Kristin Marie Wolff, born 1992 and Paul Mattias Wolff, born 1995. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at Brunel University, London, 1984-86 and a Lecturer, then Senior Lecturer in Toxicology at University College Medical School, 1986-95. He was involved in the successful campaign against the widening of Archway Road, Highgate in 1990. He died, aged 38 years, on 25 November 1995 following complications associated with a respiratory tract infection and was buried on 7 December 1995 in Highgate Cemetery, Swain's Lane, Highgate, London, N6 6PJ.
