Deep Lee

Cyclist. 24-year-old fashion student going to college on the first day of her final year of a design degree course at Central St Martin's at its new King's Cross campus. At about noon on Monday she was crushed by an HGV.

At the 2013 inquest no blame was apportioned. The driver, Terence Gibbs, and Deep Lee's boyfriend, Kenji Hirasawa, met for the first time, very amicably, and jointly criticised TfL's transport policy and the road design at this junction.

2013: Kenji Hirasawa has written requesting that we use the name she chose for herself as a designer, Deep Lee, rather than her legal name, Min Joo Lee.  He also sent us a new photograph and told us:  “She came to London in 2008 and was a menswear student at CSM. She put all her efforts to be a successful designer in London. The day she passed away was the 1st day of her final term of 3rd year, and her 1st day at the new building of CSM after their move from Charing Cross. She was very excited to go to college and begin to make her graduation collection.”  We thank him for the information and send our heartfelt commiserations.

Central St Martin's set up a bench in her memory and created the Deep Lee Memorial Fund for menswear degree students.
