Captain Robert Scott

Categories: Armed Forces, Exploring

Countries: Arctic & Antarctic

Born Devonport. Royal Navy Antarctic explorer. With four companions, E.A. Wilson, H.R. Bowers, L.E.G. Oates, E. Evans, died returning from the South Pole, having been pipped at the post by Amundsen. Amundsen: 14/12/1911, Scott: 17/1/1912.

From his diary:
"Had we lived I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman. These rough notes and our dead bodies must tell the tale."

His wife, Kathleen, is also interesting.
