Battle of Kohima

Categories: Armed Forces

The battle was the turning point of the Japanese U Go offensive against British forces in north-east India. It was fought in three stages around the town of Kohima, and has been referred to as the 'Stalingrad of the East'. The British victory here and simultaneously at the Battle of Imphal, was the largest defeat suffered in Japanese history.
