Andrew Lloyd Webber

Composer and impresario. Born in Kensingston. Immensely successful writer of stage musicals, including 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat', 'Jesus Christ Superstar', 'Evita', 'Cats', 'The Phantom of the Opera' and 'Sunset Boulevard'. He has however been accused of nicking some of his tunes, as in this video by Kit and The Widow. Knighted in 1992 and created a life peer in 1997.
He is supposed (probably apocryphally) to have asked the lyricist Alan Jay Lerner 'Why do people take an instant dislike to me?' and got the reply 'Because it saves time!'.
