Plaque

William Colbeck

Erection date: 10/9/2016

Inscription

Captain William Colbeck, 1871 - 1930, Antarctic explorer, lived in a house on this site.
London Borough of Lewisham
UK Antarctic Heritage Trust

Site: William Colbeck (1 memorial)

SE6, Inchmery Road, 51

Wikipedia suggests that Colbeck and his family moved to this address in 1914, and the ODNB says he died here. But from the plain style of the house we think it was probably erected after 1930. The house occupied by Colbeck probably looked like the house to the right of our photo.
