{By the badge of the East Surrey Regiment}
In proud commemoration of the 13th (Service) Battalion of the East Surrey Regiment known as the Wandsworth Regulars. Raised in the Borough of Wandsworth in 1915, the battalion served with distinction in France from 1916 to 1918.

This fountain is at the west end of the garden in front of the Town Hall, on Fairfield Street. It is surrounded by memorials as follows: to the south - Wandsworth Regulars; to the east - Wandsworth Army Units: since 1945; to the north – Wandsworth VCs and GCs; to the west - Wandsworth Army Units: 1914 -1945. The time capsule plaque is laid into the terrace between the fountain and the building.
