The Queen completed the planting of this silver bed on 20 April 1977 to mark the 25th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

We imagine the serrated edge is meant to resemble a silver coin but it makes us think of a bottle cap.

Doesn't the inscription conjure up a picture of Betty kneeling down, digging in the petunias?
