Erection date: 1904
{Upper plaque:}
Morris House, formerly
{Lower plaque:}
Nightingale Street Buildings, erected 1904 by The Rt. Hon. William Henry Berkeley, Viscount Portman.
Nightingale Street Buildings are marked on this 1939 map having what seems to be exactly the same footprint as the existing 2 rows of redbrick blocks of flats. This 1895 map shows that before that there were 2 closely-packed rows of terraced houses.
Site: Nightingale Street Buildings + pavement plaques (12 memorials)
NW8, Salisbury Street, Morris House
The eleven pavement plaques can be seen randomly distributed over this paved area. The Nightingale Street Buildings plaque can just be seen in our photo, on the red brick building, partly obscured by the shop awning.
