Josef Dallos

Erection date: 23/6/2010

Inscription

City of Westminster
Josef Dallos, 1905 - 1979, Hungarian born British ophthalmologist, invented living eye impression technique, 1930. First contact lens only practice here, 1937 - 1964.
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists 2010

Unveiled on the same day as the Nissel plaque.

We learnt something typing this plaque - the correct spelling of "ophthalmologist". The misspelling "opthalmologist" is so common that it is accepted by most websites, but our hard copy Chambers (2000) doesn't recognise it. Not sure we feel that much richer for the knowledge.
