Adjacent to this site stood Clyde Cottage birthplace of John Travers Cornwell the youngest recipient of the Victoria Cross posthumously awarded for bravery at the Battle of Jutland in World War I.

Formed in 1965 from the joining of Chingford, Leyton and Walthamstow.
Mazzini arrived in this house in 1840 when the address was 9 George Street.
