Inscription
Goldsmiths College suffered severe damage by enemy action during the years 1940 - 1945. It was sustained during its war-time exile at Nottingham by Arthur Edis Dean, CBE, MA, M Litt., warden from 1927 to 1950, who initiated and directed its restoration at the end of the war.

Between 2012 (our close-up photo) and 2016 (the long shot) the plaque was moved from its position in front of the building on the pavement line to a free-standing section of wall way over to the left of the building. The photo on the page for the College itself shows the first position more clearly.
