Plaque

Geoffery Hubbard

Erection date: /1/1999

Inscription

This cherry tree is erected by the residents of Fieldsway & Wilmington House in memory of Geoffery {sic} Hubbard, friend, conciliator and good neighbour, January 1999.

Wilmington House is the building to the right which continues around the corner into Highbury Crescent.

The description of Hubbard as as "conciliator" suggests a story behind this plaque, which we'll probably never hear.

With Hubbard being a Quaker the description of him on the plaque as a 'friend' has a double meaning - this was pointed out to us by Jan Elson, one of our friends (single meaning).

N5, Fieldway, Fieldsway House 1-8

In our photo this small plaque can be seen on the low white wall, midway between the purple-coated cyclist and the tree.

Oddly the block of flats is named Fieldsway House, while the road is Fieldway.
