Site: Artists' studios - W11 (1 memorial)

W11, Lansdowne Road

From RBKC: Built by Australian millionaire and art patron, Sir Edmund Davis. Designed by William Flockhart as six artists’ flats with two-storey studios, communal bathrooms and a tennis court. The first occupants were Shannon and Ricketts who lived here from 1902 - 23.

One of our friends used to live here so we know that the studios have been converted to provide comfortable flats with quirky layouts.

Circa Club (2022: link broken) provides some useful info (but be warned - there's a section of text on that page, "In 1985... - ... September 1999.", that has migrated from somewhere else). There we learn that "Glyn Philpot and Vivian Forbes shared a home and studio {here} from 1923 to 1935."

Also Maria Dickin, died in her flat here in 1951.
