Sir Leonard Hutton - diagram

Inscription

One set of stumps is labelled "Pavilion end".

We assume that if one added all the digits together the total would be 364 runs (the record innings that Hutton set in 1938), but we're not checking. This graphic representation of an innings is known as a Fergie Wagon Wheel.

We know of one other public memorial based on the graphic representation of a game: the Plough Lane Landmark.

Site: Sir Leonard Hutton (3 memorials)

SE11, Kennington Oval, John Edrich Gate

We'd guess that the diagram plaque was created soon after the record-breaking innings and had been on display elsewhere until it was moved here to complement the brick sculpture.
