Oliver Duncan Bennett was born on 8 April 1972 and his birth was registered in the Hammersmith registration district. The birth of his elder brother, Justin Michael Bennett b.1968, was also registered in Hammersmith by their mother Joy Bennett née Bowen. 

He was a financial writer for the publishers, Risk Water Group, and died, aged 29 years, on 11 September 2001 when attending their conference at The Windows on the World restaurant on the 106th floor of the North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA.
