Daughter of Henry Augustus Dillon-Lee, 13th Viscount Dillon, had great influence in social and political circles. Wife of MP, the 2nd Baron, Edward John Stanley, together parents of Maude. Lady Stanley helped to found the Women's Liberal Unionist Association, and as a advocate of higher education for women, she helped to establish Girton College, Cambridge, the Girls Public Day School Company, and the Medical College for Women.
