Person Male Born 30/5/1810 Died 10/6/1889
Born near Halifax. Civil engineer. Built canals and reservoirs. Died at home, Moor Park, Farnham.
Uncle to Charles La Trobe (1801-75), who travelled widely and became Governor of the colony of Victoria, Australia. He returned to the UK in 1954 and we are not aware of any memorials to him here, so normally our interest would be negligible, but at La Trobe University in Melbourne there is a statue of him, upside down. Worth a note, we think.
