Courtier. Born at Boughton, Northamptonshire. In 1709 he became Master of the Great Wardrobe and officiated at the coronation of King George I in 1714. Wife was Mary Churchill. A benevolent person, he funded the education of a Jamaican slave, Francis Williams and became patron of Ignatius Sancho. Died at Privy Gardens, Whitehall.
