James Paine

Categories: Architecture

Countries: France

Architect. The painting by Reynolds shows Paine with his son, also James, who became a sculptor.

Wikipedia's list of his works includes "North End House and adjoining house, Hampstead, Middlesex (1767)". Most of the London work was either just alterations, internal work, or has been demolished. Exceptions include St. Anne's Soho Parish Workhouse (Manette Street) and Richmond Bridge.

1789 Paine retired to France where he died.
