Elisee Reclus

Geographer, writer and anarchist. Born France. Visited Britain during 1852-7. Supported the Paris Commune of 1871. In 1872 was sentenced to perpetual banishment from France and settled in Switzerland.  The campaigns he promoted included the anti-marriage movement and naturism. Moved to Brussels when appointed chair of comparative geography at the University of Brussels, where he died.
