Edgar Kail

Categories: Sport / Games

Countries: Scotland

Footballer. Born in Camberwell. He signed for Dulwich Hamlet Football Club in 1915, and repeatedly turned down offers to join professional clubs. His team won the F.A. Amateur Cup in 1920 and 1932, and he was the last non-league player to play for the full England team. He was however not the last amateur player as often claimed, (this distinction was held by Bernard Joy of Casuals and Arsenal who played for England in 1936). Died in Skelmorlie, Ayrshire.
