Gloria Cummins

Pioneer participant in the Notting Hill Carnival. In the 1960s moved to Britain from Trinidad and became a psychiatric nurse in Kent. Married and moved to London, where she worked as a community relations officer for Westminster Council. She set up the Flamboyan Carnival Arts project with her husband Larry Forde. Her Flamboyan mas band, one of the oldest in Notting Hill Carnival, has been based in Paddington Basin since 1987. Costume was her discipline.

Died aged 78, in the Maida Hill area.
