Author and journalist. Born in Louisville, Kentucky. Best known for writing 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and at his funeral, his ashes were fired from a cannon, accompanied by red, white, blue and green fireworks.
