Site: Joanna Baillie (1 memorial)

NW3, Windmill Hill, Bolton House

1926 - 1944 this house was the home of the extraordinary painter, Gluck (1895 - 1978). She commissioned Edward Maufe to convert an outbuilding into a studio in 1931. Here Gluck had her (1932 -1936) relationship with Constance Spry. We have also heard that Gluck had a relationship with Annette Mills, sister of actor John Mills and presenter of "Muffin the Mule". From the end of WW2 Gluck remained in Sussex and died there, at home. For information on her family (the Lyons Corner House empire was theirs) see J. Lyons & Co..
