Dame Mary Quant, Kings Road, fashion designer, opened her boutique, Bazaar, on this site in 1955.

Jan Elson has pointed out that there's something very funny about the "King's Road" on the plaque - and not just the apostrophe. The street name looks like a late addition but without it there would be an empty space. Perhaps "Kings Road" was accidentally omitted from the (non-English Heritage) plaque so had to be stuck on afterwards? And, sorry to be picky, but does the text appear to you to be drooping at the left?

The plaque was unveiled by her son Orlando Plunkett Greene.
