Thomas Dyer

Thomas James Dyer was the son of Thomas James Dyer (1898-1983) and Miriam Rebecca Dyer née Loomes (1898-1984). His birth was registered in the 1st quarter of 1920 in the Islington registration district.

Electoral registers for 1932 show his parents listed at 51 Cropley Street, Hoxton, whilst from 1933 to 1939 they are shown at 27 Nicholas Street, Hoxton.

The 1939 England and Wales Register confirms the family was still at 27 Nicolas Street. His occupation was shown as an apprentice engineer's pattern maker, whilst his father is listed as a meat porter and his mother as a tobacco leaf stripper.

In 1942 he married Margaret Esther Parman (1920-1980) in Shoreditch.

He was a Signalman in the Royal Corps of Signals, service number 14506509, and died, aged 24 years, on 15 September 1944. His death was registered in the Barnet, Middlesex registration district.

He was buried on 22 September 1944 in Sec P, Grave 23552 at Islington and St Pancras Cemetery and Crematorium, 278 High Road, London, N2 9AG and is commemorated there on Panel 4 of the Screen Wall near the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Cross of Sacrifice.

He is also commemorated in the London Borough of Islington Book of Remembrance.
