Richard Lincoln

Richard Lincoln was born in 1922, the son of Richard Lincoln (1900-1962) and Lily Lincoln née Needs (b.1902). His birth was registered in the 4th quarter of 1922 in the the City of London registration district. His father was a boxmaker.

On the 1939 England and Wales Register his parents are shown as residing at 226 Guinness Buildings, Finsbury and his father was recorded as an unemployed labourer. He married Margaret Mary Lawrence (1922-1975) and the marriage was recorded in the 2nd quarter of 1943 in the Shoreditch registration district.

He enlisted as a Private in the 1st Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment, service number 5783355, and was killed in action, aged 21 years, on 8 July 1944. He was buried close to were he fell in Beuville, France, (since the 1970's it is known as Biéville-Beuville). On 16 June 1945 his body was exhumed and reburied in Plot 4, Row C, Grave 6 in the La Delivrande War Cemetery, 37 Route de Caen, 14440 Douvres-la-Délivrande, France.
