Sergeant/Observer Richard Henry Foster.   Born about 1921 the son of Bertie and Edith Kate Foster. The family lived at 65 Herries Street, London, W.10. and he was appointed as a Postman in the London Postal Region on the 19th November 1937 and promoted to Wireless Operator with the General Post Office on the 20th June 1940. He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, service number 1332678. He was attached to 142 Squadron, Bomber Command on the 21st July 1942 and on the 30th July 1942 was onboard a Wellington IV aeroplane in the role of bomb aimer and was taking part in a raid to Saarbrucken, Germany, when it was shot down by Oblt Eckhart-Wilhelm von Bonin and crashed near Olmen, Belgium. He was 21 years old. He and the crew were buried in Coll. Grave 1.AA.2-7 of the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
