Stanley Carter

Stanley Carter

Local politician. Born Bradford. Graduated from Ruskin College, Oxford. Served in the navy during WW2 and later worked in the newspaper industry for more than 20 years.

First elected to Enfield Council in 1978 and represented Jubilee Ward and later Southbury Ward 1994 - 2002. Chair of the Edmonton Labour Party and a local councillor for many years. Mayor of Enfield, 1998-9. Made a freeman of the borough in 2003. It was as a veteran of the Arctic Convoy campaign that he, in 2003, arranged the memorial.  Died Enfield.
