Stanley Baldwin

Prime Minister. Born at Lower Park House, Bewdley, Worcestershire. A cousin of Rudyard Kipling. Married Lucy Ridsdale in 1892. He entered parliament in 1908, became president of the Board of Trade in 1921 and Prime Minister in 1923. His premiership oversaw the General Strike and the Abdication Crisis. He resigned in 1937 following criticism of his failure to recognize the threat from Nazi Germany. Died at Astley Hall, near Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire.
