Reverend Richard Cranmer

The Reverend Richard Cranmer was Lord of the Manor of Mitcham Canons. A nearby road and green both bear his surname. He had died before 1831. From Merton: "The Canons House and estate remained in the ownership of the Cranmer family and their descendants the Simpsons until 1939..."

The Cranmers were descendants of Archbishop Thomas Cranmer who lived during the religious upheaval of the 16th century.
