On the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022, Charles, the longest-serving British heir apparent, went from Prince of Wales to King Charles III.

February 2024: Following the announcement of the king having received a cancer diagnosis we learnt that as London Bridge was to Queen Elizabeth II so Menai Bridge is to King Charles III.  See her page for the explanation.
