Musician. Born Peter Alexander Greenlaw Kinnies in Tavistock, Devon. His mother became pregnant after an affair with an American serviceman. She married after the war and the whole family took her new husband's surname. In 1963 he founded a rock group with Dave and Ray Davies called the Ravens, which eventually became the Kinks. He left the group in 1969, and performed with other groups in Canada and Denmark. He suffered from renal failure and underwent kidney dialysis for the last years of his life.
