According to reviews (Guardian and Camden New Journal) of Francesca Wade's 'Square Haunting' Dorothy L. Sayers lived, December 1920 - December 1921, in this same room as Doolittle (1916-18), and here Sayers wrote her first detective novel 'Whose Body?': "It lacked electric light, and curtains, but 'is a beautiful big room' ". It was the front room on the first floor, and did have a gas ring. One of Sayers characters, Harriet Vane, lives in Mecklenburgh Square.
