Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, 1883 - 1966, Indian patriot and philosopher, lived here.
Greater London Council

Savarkar was here from 1906 to 1909. The plaque was unveiled by Lord Fenner Brockway on 8 June 1985.

Strangely the plaque does not mention that this building was known as India House, 1905 - 1910, and is considered so important in the history of Indian Home Rule that a life-size replica has been erected in India at the birth-place of its founder, Shyamji Krishna Varma.
