Young & Son

Inscription

The weather vane above this tower represents a Bawley fishing boat. Whitebait were caught by this type of craft in the River Thames, until 1950.
In memory of Gordon V. Young, 1904 - 1976, "Who knew Billingsgate Market well and built up the family business, W. Young & Son."

Site: Young & Son (1 memorial)

EC3, Lovat Lane

We wanted to show you both the plaque and the weather vane so we have used our two pictures for those and not photographed the building. Erected in 1985 the building is rather good and you can see it in Google Streetview. The Old Billingsgate Fish Market is the large brick arcaded building on the opposite side of the road so we guess this is the site of the Young's headquarters when they moved to London in 1890.
