Fountain

Enfield Town fountain

Erection date: 1884

Inscription

{Inscribed in the granite frieze:}
Erected by public subscription 1884

{On a plaque facing east:}
Restored by the Council of the London Borough of Enfield with contributions from the customers of Marks and Spencer, Enfield, 1994.

{On a plaque facing west:}
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Enfield in fondest memory of Henry Joshua (Jos) Brown, 1906 - 1983, past President of the Club and local horticulturist.

Supporting this lamp standard is really not a job for such small babies - they're actually clinging on for dear life.

The push buttons for the drinking water are placed at the centre of water lily leaves, very similar to that on the Toynbee fountain in Wimbledon Hill Street.
