This mural depicts 3 football players: one was a PoW held in Auschwitz, where, amazingly, he played football, the other 2 were Jewish and died there. Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27 January 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz.

As soon as we published this memorial we were contacted by Mike Coleman who sent These Football Times that explains the dark and extraordinary background.
