Jesus College Cambridge

Categories: Education

Founded on the site of a Benedictine nunnery, by John Alcock, Bishop of Ely. Its full name is, 'The College of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John the Evangelist and the glorious Virgin Saint Radegund, near Cambridge'. Its mercifully shorter name comes from its Jesus Chapel. Notable alumni include: Thomas Cranmer, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Alistair Cooke and Jacob Bronowski.
