Statue: Robert Stephenson

Robert Stephenson Born October 16th 1803. Died October 12th 1859.

The scroll in his right hand probably represents engineering designs.

Site: Robert Stephenson (1 memorial)

NW1, Euston Road

This statue is in the open space in front of Euston Station. Originally installed in about 1870 in the Great Hall of the Victorian Euston Station, it was moved to Euston Square, probably when that was demolished. And then, when the station was rebuilt in 1968 it was moved to this forecourt. The Euston Arch Trust has lots of fascinating stuff about the Station, the Square and that Arch.
