Richard was 15 when he was stabbed to death, an innocent victim of the local racist gang wars. The murder took place near to this park.
2024: from the CNJ we learnt that this memorial was "neglected and later damaged by the council after it was moved into storage during a regeneration project in Somers Town." Actually a tower block, Grand Central Apartments, was built on the garden. A replacement was unveiled nearby on 17 August 2024, 30 years after the murder.
