Henry Fuseli

Categories: Art

Countries: Switzerland

Painter and writer. Born in Zurich as Johann Heinrich Füssli, worked mainly in England. The birth date we give is from the ODNB who warn that he later lied about it. His paintings often depict the supernatural; "The Nightmare", 1781 is a fun example.  Had an affair with Mary Wollstonecraft. Died at the home of the Countess of Guilford at Putney Hill.
