The facade of this building tells the history of the school. Each of the 4 gable ends carries a plaque with a dated event, reading from left to right: 1887, 1698, 1972, 1870. Lower down are two, more decorative plaques, commemorating two treasurers, left to right: Pedder and Telfer.
The school is now in premises in nearby Radnor Street.

The flower on the plaque looks to us like a chrysanthemum but we don't know if it has any special significance.

The plaque is set back from the pavement behind a high wall, and can only be photographed from a difficult angle.
Robert Browning lived in this house 1887 - 1889, from here his body was taken for interment in Poets' Corner Westminster Abbey.
