St Clement's Church

Inscription

{Above the lists of names, on each side of the cross, a small shield containing:}
RIP
{A list of 159 names, in 4 columns, 2 on each side of the cross. the names are given at Subjects commemorated. Below the names, on a frieze:}
Greater love hath no man than this.
{Below that on a tablet:}
Rest eternal, grant them, O Lord. Let light perpetual shine upon them.

The names are listed alphabetically but only by first letter of surname, possibly to make the late additions, of which there are 9, less glaring. No particular war is mentioned but we have little doubt that WW1 is the culprit.
